කොවිඩ් නව සාමාන්‍ය කරණය යටතේ කටුනායක ගුවන්තොටුපලේ කටයුතු කාර්යක්ෂම කිරීමට ඒකාබද්ධ වැඩපිළිවෙලක් සැකසෙයි. ගුවන් තොටුපළ හා ගුවන්සේවා සමාගම, ආගමන විගමන දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව, ශ්‍රී ලංකා රේගුව, සෞඛ්‍ය හා සංචාරක අංශ එක්ව මෙම ඒකාබද්ධ වැඩපිලිවල වහාම ක්‍රියාත්මක කරන ලෙස සංචාරක ඇමති ප්‍රසන්න රණතුංග මහතා බළධාරීන්ට උපදෙස් දුන්නේය. කටුනායක ගුවන්තොටුපලේදි සංචාරකයන් හා විදෙස්ගත ශ්‍රි ලාංකිකයන් ඇතුළු ගුවන් මගීන්ට සිදුවන බාධාවන් අවම කිරීම මෙහි අරමුණයි.
කොවිඩ් වසංගතයත් සමග රට තුළ ක්‍රියාත්මක නව සාමාන්‍ය කරණය වැඩපිළිවෙල යටතේ කටුනායක ගුවන්තොටුපලේ ඉදිරි කටයුතු සම්බන්ධයෙන් පැවැති විශේෂ සාකච්ඡාවකදී ඇමතිවරයා මේ බව සඳහන් කලේය. ක්‍රීඩා ඇමති නාමල් රාජපක්ෂ මහතාගේ ප්‍රධානත්වයෙන් රැස්වීම පැවැත්වින. මේ සඳහා සංචාරක ඇමති ප්‍රසන්න රණතුංග ගුවන්තොටුපල හා අපනයන සැකසුම් කලාප සංවර්ධන රාජ්‍ය අමාත්‍ය ඩී.වී.චානක විදේශ රැකියා රාජ්‍ය අමාත්‍ය ප්‍රියංකර ජයරත්න යන මහත්වරු සහභාගී වූ අතර ඊට අමතරව ගුවන්තොටුපල ආගමන විගමන, රේගුව,සෞඛ්‍ය හා සංචාරක යන අංශ වල ප්‍රධානීන් එක්ව සිටියහ.
මෙහි දී අදහස් දැක්වු ඇමති ප්‍රසන්න රණතුංග මහතා කියා සිටියේ ගුවන්තොටුපළ තුළ ඇති සියලු අංශ නිසි සම්බන්ධිකරණයකින් කටයුතු කිරීමෙන් ගුවන් මගින්ට සිදුවන බාධාවන් අවම කර ගත හැකි බවයි. ඒ සදහා ගුවන් තොටුපළ සභාපතිවරයාගේ ප්‍රධානත්වයෙන් අදාළ සියලු ආයතන නියෝජිතයන්ගෙන් සමන්විත ඒකාබද්ධ කළමණාකරණ කමිටුවක් රැස් ව එම ගැටළු විසදීමට කටයුතු කළ යුතු බව ඇමතිවරයා මෙහි දි පෙන්වා දුන්නේය.
කටුනායක ගුවන්තොටුපලේ ආගමන විගමන කවුළු වලදී සිදුවන ප්‍රමාදයන් සම්බන්ධයෙන් මෙහිදී මුලින්ම අවධානය යොමු විය. ගුවන්තොටුපල කාර්යබහුල අවස්ථාවන්හිදී අදාල නිළධාරීන් සංඛ්‍යාව වැඩිකිරීමට ආගමන විගමන පාලකවරයා මෙහිදී එකඟත්වය පලකලේය. සංචාරක ඇමති ප්‍රසන්න රණතුංග මහතා මෙහිදී යෝජනා කලේ සංචාරකයන්, ආයෝජකයන්, ව්‍යාපාරිකයන් හා විදෙස්ගත ශ්‍රමිකයන් වෙනුවෙන් විශේෂ ආගමන විගමන කවුළු හඳුන්වා දියයුතු බවයි. ඊට ආගමන විගමන නිලධාරීන් ද එකඟත්වය පල කලහ. පැමිණීම් පර්යන්තයේ ආගමන කවුළු සංඛ්‍යාව 25 සිට 31 දක්වා වැඩි කිරීමට ද විගමන කවුළු සංඛ්‍යාව 18 සිට 23 දක්වා ද වැඩි කිරීමට ඒ සදහා නවීන තාක්ෂණය හදුන්වා දිමටත් පසුගිය දා කටයුතු කෙරිණ.
කටුනායක ගුවන්තොටුපලේ දෛනික මෙහෙයුම් වලදී ඇතිවන ප්‍රමාදයන් පිලිබඳව දීර්ඝ ලෙස සාකච්ඡා කල අතර ශ්‍රී ලංකන් සභාපති අශෝක් පතිරණ මහතා අවධාරණය කලේ කොවිඩ් වසංගත තත්වය නිසා ඇතිව තිබෙන නව සාමාන්‍ය කරණ වැඩපිලිවෙල නිසා මෙම ගැටලු මතුව ඇති බවයි. එම ගැටලු කඩිනමින් විසඳීමට ද සභාපතිවරයා එකඟත්වය පලකලේය. විදේශ රැකියා රාජ්‍ය අමාත්‍ය ප්‍රියංකර ජයරත්න මහතා විදේශ රැකියා සඳහා පිටත්ව යන හා විදේශ රැකියා වලට ගොස් ආපසු පැමිණෙන අයට ගුවන්තොටුපලේ කටයුතු බාධාවකින් තොරව සිදුකර ගැනීම සඳහා විශේෂ වැඩපිලිවෙලක් සකස් කිරීමේ අවශ්‍යතාව අවධාරණය කලේය. ගුවන්තොටුපල බලධාරීන් සඳහන් කලේ ඒ සඳහා අවශ්‍ය ඉඩකඩ ලබාදිය හැකි බවයි.
ජනාධිපති ගෝඨාභය රාජපක්ෂ මහතාගේ උපදෙස් පරිදි කටුනායක ගුවන්තොටුපලේ සෞඛ්‍ය ප්‍රකාශ එකතු කිරීමේ වැඩපිලිවෙල කඩිනම් කිරීමට පසුගිය සතියේ පියවර ගැනුන අතර එහි ප්‍රගතිය ද මෙහිදී විමසා බැලුනි. සෞඛ්‍ය හා ගුවන්තොටුපල බලධාරීන් පැවසුවේ මෙහි පැවැති ප්‍රමාදයන් ඉවත්කිරීමට කටයුතු කර ඇති බවයි. අවශ්‍ය තරම් නිලදාරීන් ඒ සඳහා යොදවා ඇතැයි මෙහිදී අවධාරණය කෙරිනි.
මෙහිදී අදහස් දැක්වූ ඇමති නාමල් රාජපක්ෂ මහතා අවධාරණය කලේ මේ වන විට කොවිඩ් එන්නත්කරණ කාඩ්පත සියලු කටයුතු සදහා අනිවාර්ය කිරිම සම්බන්ධයෙන් රජයේ අවධානය යොමුව ඇති බවයි. ඊට අදාළ වැඩපිළිවෙල සකස් කර ඇති බවත් දෞඛ්‍ය අංශ ඒ සම්බන්ධයෙන් ප්‍රතිපත්තිමය තීරණයක් ගෙන ක්‍රියාත්මක කළ යුතු බවත් මේ සම්බන්ධයෙන් නිතිපතිවරයා පැහැදිලි කිරිමක් කර ඇති බවත් ඇමතිවරයා මෙහි දි කීවේය.
කොවිඩ් වසංගත තත්ත්වයෙන් පසු සංචරණ සිමා ලිහිල් විමත් සමග මේ වන විට දෛනිකව සිදුවන ගුවන් මගී මෙහෙයුම් සංඛ්‍යාව ඉහළ ගොස් තිබේ. දෛනිකව ගුවන් තොටුපළේ සිදුවන මගී මෙහෙයුම් සංඛ්‍යාව 12,000 ඉක්මවයි.
The Phase II of the Katunayake Airport Expansion Project is vested to the public, marking the first step in its development process as an aviation hub in Asia, connecting the Eastern and Western regions of the world.The Phase II of the Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport Expansion Project was declared open by Hon. Prime Minister, Mahinda Rajapaksa this morning (25).
Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport Expansion Project, which is considered to be the second largest development project in the country, aims to develop the airport in conformity with international taxiways as per a new plan in order to reflect Sri Lanka's identity and international airports.
By the end of the entire project, the annual passenger handling capacity of the Katunayake Airport, which is currently six million, will be increased up to 15 million passengers.The total cost of the Package B project of the Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport Expansion Project which is a joint venture between Japan and Sri Lanka, is Rs. 6 billion.
The Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport Expansion Project was launched in 2014 under the leadership of then H.E. President Mahinda Rajapaksa and former Hon. Prime Minister of Japan Xinhua Abe.
After completion, the new project will increase the number of taxiways at Bandaranaike International Airport to 49, doubling the existing parking facilities. With the extension of the apron, it facilitates aircraft to enter the new terminal building.
Following the completion of the remote taxiway under package B, the existing taxiway will be expanded from 269,000 square meters to 479,000 square meters, which will further enhance future demand and aircraft operations.
By the end of the Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport expansion project, the number of check-in counters will increase from 53 to 149, the number of departure counters from 21 to 53 and the number of arrival counters from 27 to 83.The number of existing airbase entrances will increase from 6 to 16 and the number of airline lounges will increase from 4 to 10.Connecting the Eastern and Western regions of the world, the development of the Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport as an aviation hub in Asia is one of the pioneering principles of the Mahinda Chinthana as well as the Vistas of Prosperity, the policy framework of the present government.
Sri Lankan Ambassador to Japan, H.E. Hideki MIZUKOSHI and Minister of Tourism,Hon.Prasanna Ranatunga, Minister of Sports and Digital Technology,Hon. Namal Rajapaksa, State Minister of Aviation and Export Zone Development Hon.D.V. Chanaka were present at this occasion.
Minister of Tourism, Prasanna Ranatunga says that the airport and health authorities have taken a number of special measures since yesterday (17) on the instructions of H.E. President, Gotabhaya Rajapaksa to reduce passenger congestion at the Katunayake Airport.
At present, a large number of passengers including tourists arrive in the country daily through the Katunayake Airport. There had been complaints of delays in obtaining health declarations from such arriving passengers and the President had instructed them to look into the matter immediately and take immediate action.
Accordingly, a special discussion was held at the Katunayake Airport yesterday (17) under the patronage of the Minister of Tourism, Prasanna Ranatunga. The discussion was attended by Director General of Health Services, Mr. Asela Gunawardena, Controller of Immigration and Emigration, Customs officials as well as Major General (Retired), Mr. G.A Chandrasiri, Chairman of the Airport and Aviation Services Company and other airport officials.
At present, the airport authorities have provided the necessary facilities to the passengers, including tourists arriving in Sri Lanka through the Katunayake Airport, to complete their health declarations through the online system. They can complete that health declaration by visiting the airport webpage. Following the discussion, Minister of Tourism, Prasanna Ranatunga and the officials inspected the relevant counters and stayed there for nearly two hours to see if any immediate changes could be made.
With the opening of the country after the Covid pandemic and the relaxation of health guidelines, the number of daily passenger operations at the Katunayake Airport has increased. About 12,000 daily passenger operations take place at the airport. There have been 746,085 passenger operations at the Katunayake Airport since January. Of these, 409,496 were arrivals and 336,589 were departures.
The passenger capacity of the Katunayake Airport is 6 million annually. Prior to the outbreak of the Covid pandemic, its annual passenger traffic was over 10 million. Minister of Tourism, Prasanna Ranatunga also revealed that after the completion of the development projects currently being implemented at the airport, its passenger operations could be increased to 15 million annually.

Minister of Tourism, Prasanna Ranatunga says that attention is being paid to increase direct flights between India and Sri Lanka in the future. He emphasizes that this is being implemented with the aim of attracting more Indian tourists to the country.
He was speaking at a meeting with Indian bloggers in Sri Lanka on Friday (19). It is planned to bring 50 Indian bloggers to Sri Lanka to give wide publicity about Sri Lanka and its first batch has now arrived in the island. The first group includes 25 Indian bloggers. The group was on a recent visit to Yala, Kataragama and met Minister of Tourism, Prasanna Ranatunga at a friendly meeting at Cinnamon Lake in Colombo.
Minister of Tourism, Prasanna Ranatunga said that India is one of the top five tourism markets in Sri Lanka. He also pointed out that more than 18% of the tourists who arrived in the country in 2019 were Indians. With the reopening of Sri Lanka to tourists after the Covid pandemic, most of the tourists who have visited Sri Lanka so far have been Indians. As at 18th November, 85,655 tourists had arrived in Sri Lanka. Out of 24,567 tourists who arrived in the country from November 1 to 18, 8086 were Indians.
Prior to the Covid outbreak, SriLankan Airlines operated more than 100 flights a week to 11 major cities in India. He also said that the operation of plights to new destinations in India is also planned.
State Minister of Aviation and Export Zones Development, D.V .Chanaka and Chairman of SriLankan Airlines, Mr. Ashok Pathirage were also present at the occasion.
කලාපීය ගුවන් තොටුපළක් ලෙස සංවර්ධනය කෙරෙන රත්මලාන ජාත්‍යන්තර ගුවන්තොටුපළේ සංවර්ධන කටයුතු කඩිනම් කෙරේ. සංචාරක ඇමති ප්‍රසන්න රණතුංග මහතා පවසන්නේ රත්මලාන ජාත්‍යන්තර ගුවන් තොටුපළේ යාත්‍රාංගණය සහ ගුවන් ධාවන පථය පුඵල් කිරිමේ කටයුතු මේ වන විට ක්‍රියාත්මක බවයි. පසුගිය මැයි මාසයේ දී ආරම්භ කෙරුණු මෙම ව්‍යාපෘතිය සදහා වැය කරන මුදල රුපියල් මිලියන 220කි.
මෙහි ඉදිකිරිම් කටයුතු ලබන වසරේ පළමු කාර්තුව තුළ දී අවසන් කිරිමට අපේක්ෂා කරන බව ද ඇමතිවරයා සදහන් කරයි. ව්‍යාපෘතිය නිම වීමෙන් පසු ගුවන් තොටුපළේ යාත්‍රාංගණ ධාරිතාව සහ ගුවන් ධාවන පථයේ කාර්යක්ෂමතාව 75%කින් පමණ වැඩි වෙනු ඇතැයි අපේක්ෂා කෙරේ. රත්මලාන ගුවන් තොටුපළ තුළ ගගන නාවික පහසුකම් සහිත පාලන මධ්‍යස්ථානයක් හා ගුවන් ගමන් පාලන කුළුණක් ඉදි කිරීමට ද අපේක්ෂිතයි. ඇමති ප්‍රසන්න රණතුංග මහතා පෙන්වා දෙන්නේ රත්මලාන ජාත්‍යන්තර ගුවන් තොටුපළේ වාණිජ මෙහෙයුම් වැඩි දියුණු කිරිම කෙරෙහි ද රජය අවධානය යොමු කර ඇති බවයි. දේශීය ගුවන් සේවා 05 ක් සමග නව වාණිජ ගුවන් සේවා වලට මේ වන විටත් එළඹ තිබේ. රත්මලාන ගුවන් තොටුපළ ආශ්‍රිතව ගුවන් තොටුපළ පුහුණු පාසලක් ආරම්භ කිරිම සදහා සාකච්ඡා කෙරෙමින් පවතින අතර ජාත්‍යන්තර සංවිධිත මෙහෙයුම් (International Scheduled Operations) ආරම්භ කිරිම සදහා ද මේ වන විට කටයුතු කරමින් සිටින බව ඇමතිවරයා සදහන් කරයි.
රත්මලාන ජාත්‍යන්තර ගුවන් තොටුපළ 1938 දි ආරම්භ කෙරැණ අතර 1968 දී කටුනායක ජාත්‍යන්තර ගුවන් තොටුපළින් ගුවන් ගමන් ආරම්භ කිරීම හේතුවෙන් කලාපීය ජාත්‍යන්තර ගුවන් ගමන් ක්‍රියාත්මක නොවිණි. රත්මලාන ගුවන් තොටුපළ තුල පවතින සම්පත් උපයෝගි කරගනිමින් නව කළාපීය ජාත්‍යන්තර ගුවන් ගමන් ආරම්භ කිරීමට සැලසුම් කර තිබේ. ශ්‍රී ලංකාව කලාපීය ගුවන් කේන්ද්‍රස්ථානයක් ලෙසට දියුණු කරන බව ජනාධිපති ගෝඨාභය රාජපක්ෂ මහතාගේ ප්‍රතිපත්ති ප්‍රකාශයේ ද සදහන් කර තිබිණ.
රත්මලාන ගුවන්තොටුපලේ ජාත්‍යන්තර ගුවන් ගමන් ප්‍රවර්ධනය සඳහා ගුවන්යානා නැවතුම් සහ නවතා තැබීමේ ගාස්තු වසරක කාලයක් සඳහා ඉවත් කිරීමටත් ගුවන් මගීන්ගෙන් අයකරනු ලබන ගුවන්තොටුල සේවා බද්ද වසරක කාලයක් සදහා අත්හිටුවීමටත් රජය පසුගිය දා කටයුතු කර තිබිණි.
වත්මන් රජය බලයට පත්විමෙන් පසු රත්මලාන ජාත්‍යන්තර ගුවන්තොටුපල ප්‍රධාන කේෂ්ත්‍ර 05ක් ඔස්සේ සංවර්ධනය කිරීමට සැලසුම් කෙරිණි. දේශීය ගුවන්සේවා කේන්ද්‍රස්ථානයක්, විනෝදාස්වාද ගුවන්ගමන් මධ්‍යස්ථානයක්, ගුවන් පුහුණු මධ්‍යස්ථානයක් ලෙසත් එය සංවර්ධනය කිරිමට නියමිතය. මීට අමතරව ඉහල ආදායම් ලබන පුද්ගලයින් ඉලක්ක කරගෙන පුද්ගලික ගුවන්යානා ශ්‍රී ලංකාවට ගෙන්වා ගැනීම ප්‍රවර්ධනය කිරීමටත්, පුද්ගලික ගුවන්යානා සඳහා තාක්ෂණික නැවතුම් සේවා ගුවන් යානා ඉන්ධන පිරවුම් වැනි අවශ්‍යතාවයන් ඉටුකිරීමටත් මේ යටතේ කටයුතු කෙරෙනු ඇත.
