It has been decided to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between Sri Lanka and Georgia to promote cooperation in the field of Tourism. The MoU is expected to be signed within the next month. The relevant Memorandum of Understanding has already been drafted.

The decision was taken at a meeting between Minister of Tourism, Prasanna Ranatunga, and Georgia's Ambassador to Sri Lanka, H.E. ARCHIL DZULIASHVILL today (16). The discussion was held at the Office of the Minister of Tourism at the World Trade Center.

Georgia's Ambassador to Sri Lanka also expressed his full support for attracting more Georgian tourists to Sri Lanka. Minister, Prasanna Ranatunga proposed to the Ambassador to implement a joint promotion campaign in Georgia, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan. He said that he hoped to hold a round of talks with journalists, social media activists, and travel agents from the three countries. The Georgian Ambassador welcomed the Covid vaccination drive implemented in Sri Lanka and agreed to launch special promotional campaigns to promote Sri Lanka in Georgia in the future.

The Ambassador of Georgia was accompanied by Senior Adviser, Mr. LASHA JAPARIDZE, Secretary to the Ministry of Tourism Mr. S. Hettiarachchi, and Director General of the Tourism Development Authority, Ms. Dhammika Wijesinghe.
