Direct flights between Sri Lanka and Poland that halted after the Easter attack will resume tomorrow. Accordingly, Polish Lot Polish Airlines will commence direct flights between Poland and Sri Lanka from tomorrow (08). Accordingly, Lot Polish flights are scheduled to arrive in the country on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

This was revealed during a discussion between Minister of Tourism, Prasanna Ranatunga and Polish Ambassador to Sri Lanka, H.E. Prof. Adam Barakooski held at the Ministry of Tourism today (07).

Minister of Tourism, Prasanna Ranatunga said that a number of airlines that had stopped direct flights to Sri Lanka due to the Covid pandemic have also made arrangements to operate flights to Sri Lanka. Prior to the Covid outbreak, 37 airlines operated direct flights to Sri Lanka and since the reopening of the country, 23 airlines have resumed passenger flights to Sri Lanka. Eight more airlines have resumed cargo operations, Minister said.

Attention was also drawn to the implementation of a joint campaign to uplift the tourism industry through Sri Lanka and Poland. The Ambassador said that Polish tourists are paying more attention to Cultural Tourism and Wellness Tourism. It was decided to hold a special discussion between the representatives of the Sri Lankan and Polish tourist organizations in the future and to formulate a program to attract more tourists to Sri Lanka accordingly.

Ms.Ewa Stankiewicz, Second Secretary of Polish Embassy in New Delhi, Mr.S. Hettiarachchi, Secretary to the Ministry of Tourism, Mr. Sunil Gunawardena, Additional Secretary to the State Ministry of Aviation and Export Zone Development, Mrs. Kimali Fernando, Chairperson of the Tourism Development Authority of Sri Lanka, and Director General, Ms. Dammika Wijesinghe were present at the discussion.
