SriLankan Airlines wishes to inform that below restrictions were imposed by the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka in the light of coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

To all airlines:

This is to inform all online and offline carriers that according to instructions received from Sri Lanka Health Authorities all international Airports in Sri Lanka will be closed for the operation of inward international commercial passenger flights (i.e arrivals) with effect from 0400hrs on 19th March 2020 (local time in Sri Lanka) until further notice.

During the above mentioned restricted period, the following will be permitted:

  1. 1. Aircraft Departures with passengers originating from Colombo, Stopovers, transit passengers or visiting tourists.
  2. 2. Emergency Diversions to BIA
  3. 3. Freighter Operations and humanitarian flights to BIA
  4. 4. Technical landings at BIA
  5. 5. Inbound ferry flights (without passengers) at BIA  

The maximum permitted transit time at BIA for any passenger transiting via BIA should strictly be not more than 12 hours. The concerned passenger must strictly have a confirmed onward connection out of BIA to an onward destination

Airlines are strictly instructed to follow the above instructions.

Suspension of Visa in Sri Lanka

Below restrictions were imposed by the Department of  Immigration and Emigration of Sri Lanka in the light of coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

All types of visa issuance to enter Sri Lanka for all the foreign nationalities will be temporarily suspended until further notice

Further, all types of Electronic Travel Authorizations (ETA), Entry Visas, Landing endorsements, Multiple Entry Visas and Resident Visas already granted to all the foreign nationals and not arrived in Sri Lanka yet will be temporarily suspended and they will not be allowed to enter Sri Lanka until further notice.
