Minister of Tourism, Prasanna Ranatunga says that Sri Lanka expects to enter into MoUs with Bangladesh, Cambodia and South Africa on cooperation in the field of Tourism.

The proposal to sign the MoU with Bangladesh was made during Prime Minister, Mahinda Rajapaksa's official visit to Bangladesh. Accordingly, the relevant agreement has been drafted with a special focus on joint investment, marketing activities and cooperation in the field of Tourism. As per the proposal made by the Government of Cambodia, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed on cooperation in the field of Tourism. The approval of the Cabinet has been obtained for this. Sri Lanka is planning to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with South Africa on cooperation in the field of Tourism as per the proposal made by the Government of South Africa.

Minister of Tourism, Prasanna Ranatunga pointed out that the Government is in the process of entering into MoU with a number of identified countries to promote the tourism in Sri Lanka, adding that special attention has been paid to the signing of these MoUs with the countries where most tourists visit Sri Lanka.
