Minister of Tourism, Hon.Prasanna Ranatunga has focused his attention on updating the training courses of the Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management in order to suit the present and future needs.

Accordingly, attention has been drawn to make the newcomers to the hotel industry aware of how to deal with tourists in the face of the Covid pandemic, which has become a global pandemic, through the training courses at the Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management   

The Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management    is expected to enroll 5175 students for its courses in the year 2021. That's a three-fold increase over the last year’s enrollment.

In the year 2020, 1659 students have been enrolled for training courses of the Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management   

Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management which was established in 1964, offers a wide range of Certificate and Diploma courses in Professional Cuisine, Restaurant and Bar Service, Front Office and Reception Management, House Keeping Management, Tour Guide, and Language Training.

These training courses have been conducted in Colombo, Anuradhapura, Kandy, Bandarawela, Ratnapura, Kurunegala, Koggala, Pasikudah and Jaffna so far and three new training schools will be opened in Polonnaruwa, Pinnawala and Jaffna in near future.
