Sri Lanka Tourism To Take-off Seasonal Celebrations
The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority together with other tourism institutions under the Ministry organized the Tourism Fest with the spirit of Christmas from 19th to 23rd December 2015 .

Cabinet approves a programme to promote domestic tourism "Adaraneeya Sri Lanka"
The Cabinet of Ministers on a recommendation made by Hon. John Amarathunga, Minister of Tourism Development and Christian Religious affairs has granted approval to launch a major domestic tourism promotional programme designed to showcase lesser known tourist attractions in Sri Lanka coinciding with the Golden Jubilee of Sri Lanka Tourism. Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority would be the implementing agency of this programme. Visits to key cultural and natural sites across Sri Lanka by domestic tourists have increased appreciably during the recent past resulting in an apparent over visitation of certain popular sites.
Under this programme action is taken to produce and telecast a series of activities to promote domestic tourism titled along with the tag line “ Dakimu, Widimu and Rakimu”. It is also planned out to produce a travel documentary covering lesser known tourist attractions in the island consisting 27 episodes to be telecast by the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation.
All video clips, photography exhibitions, weekly quiz competitions and social media competitions would also be used to promote domestic tourism. Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority is to invest Rs. 25 Mn on the programme.
